Fear Not: Encouragement for Christians from 20 Bible Verses

As Christians, we are called to live a life free of fear. God’s Word is filled with promises and assurances that can give us comfort and courage in difficult times. In this video, we will explore why we as Christians should not fear and who we as Christians should not fear as well as who Christians should fear, backed by at least 20 Bible verses.

Firstly, we should not fear because God is with us. In Deuteronomy 31:6, it says, “Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.” We can have confidence that God is always with us, and He will never leave us or abandon us.

Secondly, we should not fear because God loves us. In 1 John 4:18, it says, “There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.” We can have confidence in God’s love for us, which can drive out any fear we may have.

Thirdly, we should not fear because God has given us a sound mind. In 2 Timothy 1:7, it says, “For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.” We can trust that God has given us the ability to make wise decisions and to have self-control, which can help us overcome any fear or anxiety we may have.

Fourthly, we should not fear persecution or suffering for the sake of the Gospel. In Matthew 5:11-12, Jesus tells us, “Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” We can have confidence in God’s plan and providence, knowing that He will reward us for our faithfulness.

Fifthly, we should not fear the future. In Jeremiah 29:11, God says, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” We can trust that God has a good plan for our lives, and that we can rest in His provision and guidance for our future.

Sixthly, we should not fear death. In John 11:25-26, Jesus says, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?” We can have confidence that death is not the end for us as believers, but rather the beginning of eternal life with Christ.

Seventhly, we should not fear those who oppose us. In Psalm 118:6, it says, “The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me?” We can trust that God is with us, and He will defend us against our enemies.

Eighthly, we should not fear the unknown. In Proverbs 3:5-6, it says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” We can trust in God’s guidance and wisdom, even when we don’t understand what is happening in our lives.

Ninthly, we should not fear lack or scarcity. In Philippians 4:19, it says, “And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” We can trust in God’s provision and know that He will supply all of our needs, even in times of scarcity.

Tenthly, we should not fear the present. In Psalm 46:1-2, it says, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea.” We can trust in God’s strength and protection, even in the midst of difficult circumstances.

While we should not fear many things as Christians, there is one thing we should fear: God Himself. In Matthew 10:28, Jesus tells us, “And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.” We should have a healthy fear and reverence for God, who is holy and just.

In conclusion, as Christians, we should not fear because God is with us, He loves us, He has given us a sound mind, He will reward us, He has a good plan for our future, death is not the end for us, He defends us against our enemies, He guides us, He provides for us, and He is a very present help in trouble. However, we should fear God and have a healthy reverence for Him. As we trust in Him and seek to follow His will, we can live a life free of fear and full of faith and courage. As it says in Psalm 23:4, “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”
